None of the tent pads was particularly level, but that ended up working in our favor, as a huge thunderstorm rolled through one night, and we could feel the water rushing under the tent like we were on top of a waterbed. Luckily, the tent stayed dry inside, since the water just kept running out downhill. We were able to set up a tarp to keep us mostly dry while making dinner. Quite a few folks passed through the channel in front of the site, but everyone was friendly and respectful. We had a nice day trip down to Bald Eagle Lake. Our last morning there we woke up to dense fog that obscured the nearby opposite shore in a fun and spooky way (see photos).

Didn't stay here but we ate lunch here one day. Very minimal shade around kitchen area. Kitchen area is spacious. Very good fishing right from the site and all throughout that channel in between Gabbro and Little Gabbro. Caught 4lb smallie right by this site, along with some walleye, smaller northern, and a decent sized rock bass.

Great site. Lots of space for tent, good tarp-hanging, too. Great fishing right at campsite. Only downer is that this is a high-traffic route for paddlers passing to/from Gabbro.
