BWCA Campsite 1740 on Gull

The landing here is a sloping rock and worked well for getting canoes in and out. The kitchen area has a gorgeous west-facing view of the lake, and I really enjoyed spending time there. The kitchen is fairly open, with limited shade, though there is one tree nearby that helps on hot days. The site faces west, so it usually catches a breeze, which could be good or bad depending on the conditions. Tent pads are spread out along trails on the peninsula. I found three good tent pads and several additional spots that could work if you don't mind a bit of exploring. The area burned years ago, but regrowth has filled in enough that the fire impact isn't very noticeable anymore.

Good landings up to a somewhat sloped and exposed main camp area. Decent tent pads just behind the main site and more could be found up the rise behind camp where there would also be a great spot to watch the sunset. Site was not dramatically impacted by the fires but, still somehow kind of still feels like it was??? Never the less, likely one the best sites on the loop of lakes NE of Bald Eagle.

Stopped here for lunch. The only non-burned out site on Gull Lake. Has lots of easy landing spots. I'm sure you'd see some great sunsets here. Could easily fit three large tents and 9 people the only problem is all the bigger tent spots are not shaded after 11 AM.

Great campsite. Liked the sloping view to the lake. The fire pit was in good shape. nice trails lead to other areas of the island.

Stopped here for lunch on a day trip fishing. Seemed like a very nice island site. Open with options for tents.

Nice site with a couple canoe landing options. There is a decent tent pad right in the site and another a short walk to the left. Fishing is good throughout the lake for pike and walleye. If you want smallmouth, the fishing is much better over on Pietro.
