This campsite is just around the portage on the south shore of Missionary Lake. It is very shaded and sheltered, with a lot of spruce trees surrounding the site. The landing is pretty good, with a shallow, sandy, gravelly pull-in area where you might even be able to fit two canoes side by side. If you are willing to get your feet wet, it is easy to unload there, but the bank is a little steep if you are trying to stay dry. The fire grate area is okay but not great. When I visited, there was basically no seating because the one log was broken and rotten. There are two good tent pads and three maximum tent pads. There is at least one large white pine in the site, maybe two, with one large white pine next to one of the tent pads. This would be a good site if you want shade and shelter from the wind, especially on a hot day, but the view is narrow. You get some view near the landing, but there is not much lake view from the main site.

This is a smaller site that is mostly suitable for a smaller group. It is somewhat enclosed by young trees and bushes and there is a limited view of the lake. There are very few large trees for hanging food pack or hammocks. The landing is okay but it is not a very good site for swimming. We did not stop at the other campsite on the lake (2045) because it was occupied but it looked to be much better.

Easy landing but cumbersome to camp at. Hammock friendly. Can fit more hammocks than tents
