BWCA Campsite 2192 on Bog

I'm guessing for about the next decade or so (until the other sites grow up) this will be the most desired campsite on Bog Lake. The landing is kind of a hole in the wall; you don't see it until you're right on top of it. The fire grate area leaves much to be desired: subpar log seating, questionable orientation etc. The site itself is very lumpy with roots and rocks and there are several large boulders peppered around the site. The best spot for everything (canoe storage, kitchen, tent pad etc) is probably the landing. The black spruce trees don't give this site a pleasant feel.

Best campsite on Bog. The landing is sandy but a little narrow. We were able to land the canoe on the sand, and the stern person was able to get out on a rock to the side. The best tent pad is down a trail on the north side of the site. It isn't perfect - there are some roots, but it is still a pretty good tent pad. There is another tent pad that would be good if it weren't for the snapped tree hanging right above it. Other two possible tent pads are rocky and rooty. While we were there, the site had a definite smell, but I think that was the toilet paper in the fire grate, and it must have been used toilet paper. Why was it in the grate and not the latrine?

It's a small site, but at least it's unburned. Not much lake view and the landing is narrow.

I honestly didn't think this site was all that bad. It is definitely small and the fire grate is facing the opposite direction of the lake. However, the fire great was in good condition, the landing is great, and the site was really clean. There is a ton of great firewood around. The latrine was pretty full, so hopefully that is up for service soon. There is a quasi-flat tent pad by the fire grate, but if you take a small trail on the right side of the landing there is a really nice mossy flat tent pad.

The only good thing about this site is the landing.
