I'm writing this review in 2024 because it was unrated. We were going to stay on the island site in May 2012 but the Forest Service actually closed it, and there was a sign telling us about this site. We were the first campers to use this site, ever. The Forest Service built a firepit, put a grate on it, installed a thunderbox only days or weeks before. I remember feeling guilty as we were destroying the moss that had never, ever, been trampled on. I think we caught some pike in North Lake. It was my first trip to BWCA and I've done dozens since.
