BWCA Campsite 2312 on Birch

This potential campsite is on the peninsula directly in the middle of Neglige Lake. Since this is a Primitive Management Area, there are no designated campsites, fire grates, or latrines, and camping needs to follow Leave No Trace rules. It was clear that people have used this spot before because there was an existing fire ring with charcoal in it, and there was visible wear on the peninsula. This is probably the best place on the lake to camp if you have the PMA permit, and because the area is relatively easy to access, it makes sense that it shows more use than some other PMA spots. There is one good tent pad. It is not great because it is a little rocky and rooty, but for a PMA campsite it is good enough. The landing is fairly easy and obvious from the water. It is a small flat rock where you can pull up alongside, get out, and either pull the canoe out or tie it to a nearby tree. There is also a nice spot on the peninsula to view the lake, and you could likely get a breeze through the site on hot or buggy days. The trees are mostly cedar and spruce, with some young white pines nearby and a few larger white pines farther back on the peninsula.
