Camped here for the 4th this year, try something new. Wife, 2 kids(8 and 12). Never been to the boundary waters before, but one of my old frat buddies recommended it. We live in Chicago.
It was a long trail to get to the lake, we took the first available camp. Upon arrival, realized there were zero park employees/staff at this lake. I had my kids paddle the canoe around looking for anyone, but nothing. We always go big on the 4th, but we were disappointed to find ZERO FIREWORKS. We heard some, but couldn’t see them from this crappy lake. My wife and I got into a huge screaming match and the kids were crying/freaking out. Needless to say, we WILL NOT be returning. Rocky landing.

Nice elevated site with good landing. Lots of shade during the day. Shore fishing was poor but the rest of Pine Lake had good walleye action.

A very nice campsite. From the water, it appears to be very closed in. However, when you get to the campsite, you realize that it is open. There are very large pines throughout the campsite - just gorgeous. The campsite is protected from the wind by the trees and the location. This can be good or bad, depending on the time of year. The swimming area was difficult to navigate with all the rocks. It also was not very deep by the campsite.
