This is a fairly average Boundary Waters campsite. The landing is a small rock shelf out front, and it was not too difficult to pull the canoe alongside the rock, get out, and then pull the canoe up.
The fire grate looks across the channel toward the large island site on the southern tip of the big island on Ester, so you may have visible neighbors if someone is staying there. There is not really a great tent pad anywhere.
The main tent pad area is very large, but it appears to be slightly sloped across the whole space. It may or may not be noticeable once a tent is set up, but it looked sloped to me.
There are a couple of smaller places near the main camp where tents could also go. I would call it one good tent pad and three maximum tent pads, but none of them are great. Along the shoreline there are cedars, including one big cedar near the kitchen, while the area behind the site is mostly spruce, aspen, and birch.

Fairly small site with one decent tent pad. The other tent pads are on significant slopes that made sleeping nearly impossible. Nice view of the spacious island site right across the channel. This is the least desirable site of the four in this region of Ester, which was the reason it was the only one open when we arrived. Beware the two friendly though mischievous chipmunks that live here!

Smaller campsite than the other nearby island sites. We chose next door to stay after checking this one out. Hammock trees and a couple tent pads available.
