BWCA Campsite 329 on Ester

This is a very nice site. High winds 10-20mph with frequent gusts to 30mph then shifting to the north for our first 3 days limited our options for moving around for our first few days. We were pinned down at this site for 2 days. That said, the campsite proved to be a fantastic sanctuary. It has red cedar trees protecting the site, knocking the wind down within the campsite kitchen and tent pads. Landing 3 straight forward no big rocks to rip your canoe open, easy hoist to get the canoe off the water and secure. Kitchen 4 pretty big, room enough for many people, 1 flat cooking area. good logs to sit on. Tent pads lots of good options around the site and most away from the kitchen. Toilet 4 far enough away from tent pads and kitchen for privacy, easy to find.

This is a pretty nice campsite, even though it is fairly basic. You can land almost anywhere around the campsite because it is all smooth, gently sloping rock. It is easy to pull the canoe alongside the point and get out. The kitchen is in an open area surrounded somewhat by cedars, with a nice window out onto the lake. The seating around the campfire is decent but not great. I found several tenting options and eventually settled on five good tent pads and six maximum tent pads. One tent pad near the kitchen appears to have staking issues, with rocks around it that people likely used to tie down a tent. Down a short trail there is a very large tenting area that looks like it could fit two tents. There is another tent pad behind the campsite off the latrine trail, and while it may be a little rocky or sloped, it still has enough space. I also found a smooth, level spot near the water that could be used either as canoe storage or as a tent pad, though staking may not work there. The main area is mostly smooth sloping rock, but there are shaded spots near and behind the kitchen during parts of the day.

Decent site with a good amount of space, decent landings and several tent pads.
