We went to this camp site because ratings from another web site suggested it was a "5." We even waited at an adjacent island while the folks who had been camping here packed up and left, to make sure we got it. Unfortunately, while it might be a great site for some folks, not so much for us. The good news is that there is a large grove of cedars with plenty of room for lots of tents, and lots of trails to explore. The bad news is the kitchen area has no shade, and is nestled in a small level spot between several rock outcroppings that are very interesting, but almost entirely block the view of the lake. We could only enjoy the view if we scrambled up the rocks, or walked down to the rocky shore. There was a soft landing to the north, but it only faced another nearby island, so wasn't much of a view. The water was low, so this soft landing wasn't pleasant to wade in. It might have been better with a foot more water. Instead, we wore our shoes to walk out on the big rocks on the other side of the camp site to bathe. We actually spent a couple of days there because we were waiting for a friend, only to discover a campsite at the nearby island that had two great beaches (site 395). I'm wishing we had done more reconnoitering before we settled for this site. The latrine was also a long way away (perhaps the furthest of any site we've seen), but the walk was pleasant enough, and the location for the latrine itself was shaded, but nice and open with a great breeze. If you need a place to get out of a storm, this is probably a great site, since the northern landing is very well protected from all directions. Otherwise, I believe you can do better.

Great site, but not much breeze. Hidden gem. No good fishing from the shore though. Lots of good tent sites.

Really enjoyed this site. Base-camped all week. It's sheltered from the big water but on calm days you can paddle up there. caught some small smalleys off the southern shore, and lake trout 50 yards off the west shore trolling lindey rigs. 1 super great tent pad right off shore, and another down in a cedar grove behind camp, and a few other spread out through camp. Landing was decent enough, better than most. Just a nice big site with lots of hammock trees and places to hike and explore the island!

Great elevated and sheltered site with many great views and landings. Trail to the latrine is a bit rough with some ups, downs and some mud. Several great tent pads and a few good ones. Would be a good group site.
