We really liked this site, and I actually liked it more than the northern beach site. The landing is pretty good - it is a shallow, sandy/rocky area out front of the site. There are a couple of loading/unloading rocks if you are dry footing, but I found it easiest to wet foot. There is good canoe storage right down by the lake. The kitchen is in the sun the majority of the day. There are a few cedars and spruce, and the campsite mostly escaped the fire. There is a trail to the portage, which is very close and we often heard people. There was one really good tent pad, one good one in the woods down the trail to the portage, one decent but rocky and slanted pad, one that you can fit int a small flat area by the fire grate, and one tiny one in the woods. There are hammock options. Hanging trees were difficult to find. Latrine is up a steep incline. We did not have luck fishing from shore since it is too shallow, but the swimming was decent.

Decent site right next to the portage. There is a path to the portage landing on Clove, which is short and a better take out point. Good breeze from the SW kept the bugs down.

I'm not sure why the below average reviews for this site. There are two areas to land canoes, but expect to get your feet weight or scratch up the canoe. The landings aren't steep or slippery. There is a nice area to stage canoes that is out of the way from the landings. It is pretty shallow leading into the campsite, but the fishing was stellar for SMB. There are two good tent pads, might be able to fit a third. Plenty of space for hammocks off from the main site in a grove of pines. The fire pit isn't facing the water and can get a bit hot from a lack of wind coming through. Had two calves and a cow walk from the portage right in front of our site one morning. I really enjoyed this camp.

Not an awesome site by any means, but serviceable. I had the lake to myself at the start of June and my choice of camspsites as a result. I didn't love the one across the way and was already set up before I visited the one on the north end. I could see the portage causing traffic during the busy season, but I pulled in during late afternoon and had no problem.
