All of the beach site on York Island seem to be pretty good. They are definitely more interesting than the ones on Sand Island. At that time, there was a picnic table, as well as a fire ring and a food locker. According to the NPS web site, the picnic tables are gone now. The beach was spectacular, and had a lovely view of Bear and Devils Island. It was an easy paddle from Sand Bay. We made a round trip around Devils Island from here, which was a LOOONG day. I wouldn't recommend it unless everyone in your party is a strong paddler and prepared for an entire day of paddling, and all the weather might bring. We ended up towing one of our party the last 3 miles.
