We had come from Chatterton that day and it was late afternoon, and we were taking a break at this site and watched two seperate 4-6 person groups come off the Deux Rivere portage going to Sturgeon. We hadn't been through Dore before so didn't know what the odds were of finding a site on Dore on a Friday night, so we elected to stay here. It's a so-so campsite, lake water at camp was mucky green (used a filter and boiled the water). Wind died, then we got mobbed by clouds of gnats. It was bad enough that we got the bug nets out to keep them out of our faces.

I don't remember the tent pads being all that good on this camp site. My memory could just be jaded because we were exhausted after paddling all day and fighting horrible winds all day. That being said, the best pictures from my 2014 trip were taken at this site after the wind storm and rain had subsided for about an hour. A moose also came into the bay just northwest of this campsite. It was probably 50 feet from us while it waded in the water.
