Quetico Campsite 1GD on Pickerel

Very small amount of usable space, elevated, on N. tip of island - rest of island is "bush." Best tent spot is only 15' from fireplace, 2nd is about 20', rocky and rooty. 3rd tent area about 90m south of main area may be buggy. Great fireplace, but bring a chair! (Couple man-made benches for sitting, but not near the FP.) VERY limited tarp options but a couple hammock possibilities. Good views NW, NE, SW from the "okay" landing area. Limited views/water access otherwise. Decent shade, mostly small red pine. My generous rating is 3-stars.

Good views around the north end of the island, nice sitting area facing west. Good put in on the east side for canoe. There's a tent pad site near the fire pit area and a smaller one in the trees. I think the fire pit and sitting area have been moved around a bit since the last review. The site is a bit exposed to the weather as there is a break in the trees on either side of the main area. I choose not to stay here as the winds were strong and went right through the site. Would be nice on a calmer day.

Elevated north-facing island site, good kitchen, good views, good takeouts. 2 of 7 tent spots are sheltered. 4.5 stars
