This is a fantastic site on a gem of a lake. It is located on the portage liftover from White Sand Lake to Nellie Lake, so you will have groups passing through and privacy is diminished. The landing on White Sand Lake is a sand beach with plenty of room to unload. The beach is shallow for 50-100 feet, and makes for great wading but for swimming you will have to wade out from shore pretty far. The water is clear and swimming refreshing. The site features a new firepit with a retractable grill and and a new level picnic table. The entire site is located beneath a dense but young white pine grove. There are plenty of trees to hang several hammocks in, but less level spaces for tents. The site catches breezes from all directions save for east and I did not have any bug issues due to a steady south wind. There is ample firewood near the site for cutting and chopping with a lot of deadfall east of the site. Trails extend in both directions from the site and connect to the White Sand Beach (former CCC camp and Scout High Adventure Base). Because you can reach this site via trails to this popular area, this site is often used illegally by groups walking in and staying for several days and may not be available for paddlers, plan to reach the site early in the day and have a backup plan. This site is also part of the regular Camp Manitowish YMCA Summer Camp circuit and is used nightly when available through the summer on weeknights and weekends.

The nicer (IMO) option on a fairly busy lake. Stretched out without a lot of level ground. Right on the carryover into Nellie Lake, and has a trail connection to the Lumberjack Trail.
