BWCA Campsite 555 on Snipe

Decent site. 2nd fav on lake. good fire pit, great landing, good view, good tent pads.

Easy sand landing. Nice kitchen area with stone tables. It is on a hill, so there are not many tenting areas. However, there is one fairly large good tent pad. Good view from the kitchen.

This rating is for a small (4 or less) group only. You will be miserable with more than 2 tents or canoes in this site. There are only 2 tent pads; one is exquisite , the other rather lumpy but serviceable. The landing is small but shallow with gravel. Most of the site is sloped and plagued with roots but, the main kitchen area is elevated & has about the neatest rock table you could hope to encounter, while the firegrate log seating is level and situated for sunset viewing. A good supply of dead & downed wood behind the latrine and a bountiful crop (in season) of blueberries is a strong possibilty.

This was a very welcome site after a bunch of full sites. I pulled in here after dark and was happy to find it open. It worked great for my hammock.

Good for solo, couple or any small group sleeping in the same tent. The 1 tent pad is good size and flat. Landing is narrow and slightly tricky because depth drops off quickly. This makes for decent swimming though. Nice sunsets. Best and shortest path to latrine. Didn't worry about privacy as I was solo.

Easily the best campsite to be found on Snipe. I did a layover day to heal my heel and checked it all the campsites after spending a night in a lightening storm on at a different campsite on this lake. It is a short easy climb to the campsite. Best tent pad is tucked in the woods. Fire grate has a nice view of the lake.

We did not stay here just wanting to check it out, 1 nice large tent site that was flat, plenty of spots for hammocks, you maybe able to fit a couple single person tents but make sure you have a thick pad for the roots...
