Many of the trees shielding the site on the east end are gone, they appear to have been cut down, either by irresponsible campers or the USFS, hard to say for sure when lakes are this close to motorized non-BWCA lakes like Poplar, I always seem to find nefarious things at camp. Otherwise, there is plenty of space to wander around and has water views on 3 sides, one good tend pad up on top of the slope providing good wind protection from West winds. Cooking area is a bit small and all the water from rain runs directly to the firepit and seating area. With the water level lower in the Fall, it has a very expansive beach-like sitting area below the massive pine on the Eastern water front. It also had a really nice latrine, lid still intact! Hard find these days.

This is a nice site on an exposed point on the west end of the lake. I was guiding a group of fathers and sons here which, as a guide, requires less immediate attention than say a group of high schoolers! Good thing too because the summer of guiding caught up with me here. I zonked out on the rock face by the water in the best nap I have likely ever had on trail (except maybe the one on a Quetico portage in high school right alongside a waterfall. That memory sticks with me.) Anyways, I was sleeping so soundly that the fathers and sons managed to sneak out with all of the aluminum canoes WITHOUT WAKING ME! There's no sneaking around with aluminum, but apparently I was sleeping well. Unfortunately, a big storm came through in the night which had me worried. There's one giant old-growth white pine hanging above one of the main tent pads. In the wind, it was creaking and groaning which made my forestry background shudder. I was close to waking my group up in case this was the night the old tree fell, but the wind soon backed down. Even still, that tree will fall in the not distant future. Nice site for sure.

Generally a nice campsite. Surrounding trees give privacy but still has good canoe landings and nice views out over the water. Large open campsite with lots of potential tent pads though the slope suggests trouble if it rained hard. Large tree makes for easy food pack hang. Only real gripe is that the site appears heavily used and campers have been cutting and damaging live trees.

Most of the campsite was on a hill. When it rained all the water came down to the kitchen. Nice views and good landings.
