Others have pretty well covered things about this site ... We stayed here 2 nights in June 2009, and there was a good-sized standing DEAD pine next to the rearmost upper tent area, and it did not look like the site had been used much. Lower fireplace area is very nice, and views from numerous upper level points are outstanding. You will get your exercise here going up and down the 10 foot or so of "steps" between levels.

Two level campsite. Major fancy fire pit on lower level with sitting room around it and easy to pitch tarp over. Steep climb up 12 feet to second level where there is room for tents on flatter ledgerock area. Thick pine woods behind and between this and site BB so private in spite of having neighbors there.

There are two campsites on the island. We stayed at this eastern one, and while we were there a large group set up on other one (BB). Even though the other campsite is near by, it's around the bend and we only noticed the other group from the water. This would be a really nice campsite except it was overused in August 2004, and someone had taken a hatchet to a lot of standing and downed wood. Otherwise, it has all the amenities. We just set up our tent in the uppermost grass and pines area, away from the overuse.
