Y'all are tripping. This is a great site. Nice views of the lake, easy landings, good swimming. We had a lovely breeze that kept bugs at bay. Probably the only thing I didn't like about it was being able to hear motors on Bearskin and people driving on the Gunflint Trail.
The kitchen area is located at the end of the peninsula with decent views of the lake all around. A very nice Pondering Rock down by the water, too.
There are two solid tent pads that could easily fit two smaller backpacking tents each if you don't mind sleeping a few feet from your companions. I took a rootier, slantier pad a bit deeper in the woods that my very small 1P tent fit nicely. There are enough trees to accommodate an army of hammock sleepers.
The stauber is a bit of a hike from camp, but not too bad. Had far worse.
I struggled to find a good tree for food hanging but there are a couple of passable trees out by the stauber.

Enjoyed three days on this campsite with my son. We were wind bound with a broken canoe. Rigged a great tarp and our North face Nebula worked very well in the pine needle laden campsite. Had a cow moose in heat making all kinds of noise at night. Great place to watch the lake on the shore line.

Really enjoyed our stay at this site. Nice views and open enough to allow for any breeze to keep the insects at a minimum. Really didn't have any issues with the bugs, except below the site right next to the water. Small space but easy canoe landing area. Space for two large tents on two large tent pads, or 4 small tents on the same two tent pads.

this site get used quite a bit....great views of the lake....thats about it.....we stayed one night because we planned on it ever since we started planning for our trip. The bugs were outrageous, not much fire wood, only a couple tent pads but plenty for hammocks. Toilet is a hike from the campsite
