If it weren't for the portage going RIGHT THROUGH THE CAMPSITE, this would be a great spot. I can't recommend this site for staying overnight, because you'll literally have people walking through your campsite. On the other hand, it's a lovely spot for lunch, with lots of shelter, great views of the falls, lots to explore, and easy access to up and down river and the pictographs. The fishing is probably excellent, too, but we've always just kept going once we finished lunch.

Hard to say what rating to give this site. It is a decent site right on Lower Basswood Falls. It is a nice setting among the cedars. However, it is right on the portage, so there is a CONSTANT flow of traffic. 3 stars for the campsite itself, 1 star for the solitude.
