Saw this site from a distance on a previous trip, stopped for lunch this time to check it out. Best canoe take out is on the north side of the island. Big, open area in a red pine stand with lots of room for tents. Not one, but three fire pits, though none of them were in particularly great condition. No decent swimming area that we could see. Doesn't look like it gets a lot of use, but a perfectly workable site, suitable for a larger group.

Nice island to yourself. Two firepits, plenty of trees for shade but not so many that you can't walk through. Big enough to have a good distance from your "potty zone." We had a party of 6, but a larger party could definitely fit. The small black flies were nasty in early June, but the nice thing is that we could always walk to a different corner of the island to find a breeze. Also saw some moose scat, so they might come visit. Great spot! Good trout fishing, too.

I spotted this site while fishing 9/4/2010 and was going to come back and land to check it out, but time and weather did not allow. A good-sized fireplace and "table" constructed of poles lashed between two trees with flat rocks on top were apparent from the lake, but I cannot say anything about the site "quality" or tent pads. Maybe someone will see this and investigate it further. I think at least having it mapped would give paddlers another option in this heavily-used end of Cirrus Lake, even if it turns out to be a low quality option. --Goose
