BWCA Campsite 723 on Gogebic

I would not choose to stay at this site as my first choice but was so grateful it was available when literally all of the sites on Clearwater, West Pike, and the other Gogebic site was taken. Very grateful for it existing and being empty in our time of need but I would not seek this site out. The other site, from the water, looked nicer. This site is right on the BRT, the trail goes through the camp, and thankfully we didn't have any hikers during our stay. It was very wet and more bugs than elsewhere we'd been on our trip around Moose > Mountain > Pike Lakes. Wasn't a great place to grab deeper water and almost caught a couple of frogs in our water filter! The view of the stars at night over the lake was beautiful but you definitely can't see that from the kitchen. The thunderdome was fine though a little uphill. Grateful but would not seek out.

Just hidden enough from the lake while still being right next to it: a good hiking site in a nice stretch of the BRT. Good latrine and a mix of open as well as sheltered tent pads in case weather goes south.

Good trail campsite, nice trees along trail for hammocks. Right on trail and on the lake although hidden from the lake. Not an obvious canoe landing.

Its nice. But only because it doesn't have much to be compared to. I would stay here. Open. Flat. On trail.

This is definitely a hiking site. There really isn't a canoe landing here, and the trail runs straight through. It is small and brushy. Not all that bad if you want to stay on Gogebic, and the other one is full, but only then. It's a last resort.

This site is more situated for hikers & is smack dab in the middle of the Border Route trail. There is a very small opening out to the lake. But, you'll have to know exactly what you're looking for to find it from the water. The site is situated in a grove of trees, so it should offer good shade & protection. There are a few decent tent pads & the latrine in back up the hill heading away from the lake.
