Beggars can’t be choosers. Located north of the portage to Echo Lake, this site looks different than most and could be mistaken for the entrance to a portage or unmarked trail. Fourteen other Brule sites we checked were occupied, as were the two sites on Vernon. Site 971 was open, but a skirmish between two members of our group over a snake skin shed (apparently a bad omen) kept us moving on. A nice landing and lengthy walk lead you to camp. The majority of the camp is an open field. There is absolutely no view of the water from the actual site. There are several tent pad options, none of which are shaded. I did not see any good hammock options. If you want to escape the winds of Brule, or if you’re sick of looking at water, this site is for you.

Landing is swampy, but up the trail is a very large grassy campsite for several tents. Not many hammock opportunities or bear trees. Would be great for a large group of tents as long as the bugs are not out. Lots of signs of moose.

First time trip! Campsite was okay. Really open. far from cone landing. Wild raspberrys along route to campsite, they were very taste. Landing was nice good room for canoes, not much for fishing from shore. Bay wasn't great ether for fishing. Lots of good flat spots for tents but not much cover. Ants were a pain too.

Site is open. It could have been deceiving to others because you have to follow a trail around 75 feet back from the lake to get to the campsite. Site has nice open area with a couple of tent pads and a view of the lake.

Unable to find this one...Does it even exist? Spent fifteen minutes in the area and found nothing...
