Not a perfect site, but it has a lot going for it. Mainly I like its location on the west end, near temperances, the rockslide, and the vesperian north loop out of Brule

Very nice campsite on a large island. Multiple tent spots and good options for hanging hammocks. Good canoe landing and great fishing right from shore. Narrow channel in front of the campsite means if someone is going by they are pretty close - we stayed 2 nights and only saw a couple of folks go by. Plenty of room to explore on the island, saw a moose on a neighboring island.

This site was our landing place after fleeing and riding out storms all afternoon, while finding both temperances full and the first two Brule sites full. In the aftermath of some weather, this was a spectacular site to watch the skies and clouds around sunset. A little bushwhack to reach the northern shore gives a great view of the NW corner of Brule, with a bit of the rockslide face visible. Others have commented on the lack of privacy due to the channel, but we didn't have anyone pass by, and really liked the close feel of the channel despite being on a big lake. Plenty of space.

We made a conscious decision to head to this end of Brule due to the versatility it offered for day trips. Great bays to explore and a 15 minute paddle from the portage to South Temperance. The campsite offered good protection from heavy west winds. The closer to the water the more open the site is. A gradual, rock slab from out of the water with small patches of grass. Great for lounging. As mentioned by other reviewers, there is a narrow channel directly in front of the campsite which forces canoes to paddle by. On the flip side, the channel was awesome for fishing. Barely had to leave camp to catch walleye, northern and smallies. The toilet is situated nicely, as long as you don't mind the grouse staring at you. The fire grate and surrounding logs were very nice with good trees to hang a community tarp for weather protection. This site could easily accommodate 6 people in regards to space and is very kid friendly with the open area(s).

A decent landing leads up to an odd fire grate area with no lg seating in the immediate area. However, there is a log bench back away from the grate. There are several tent pads within eyeshot of the fire grate & several potential others back by the latrine. There's lots of open room. The narrow channel out front limits privacy.
