Paddle Planner and the Voyageur Maps depict the old portage trail. The current portage trail is located on the tip of the small peninsula to the west. That trail leads to the old roadbed connecting Phantom to Sprite Lake and can be used to bypass Phantom entirely, if one so chooses. The Barefoot Paddler’s map shows the correct location for the portage but does not show the roadbed connecting Phantom and Sprite.

I took the portage continuation, portaging from Sprite to Phantom to Battle. The old road bed portages pretty easy and there is a nice landing on the Battle end. Not a bad portage.
