I agree with Vern...well maintained and easy portage to walk/move gear. I freshened up tree blazes on the Hatchet Lake entrance, so even easier to find. The Upper Hatchet Lake entrance still has the pulled up fishing skifts on the beach. The portage trail starts to the north of these boats.

As part of the Viking Lodge network of boat caches and trails, this portage is also excellent and easy to find / navigate.
