The 2021 forest fire burned this again right down to bare rock with green trees only in low spots. I was paddling west to see the Garner Lake entrance and went right by the east entrance to the portage and got out at the start of the rapids. I ended up just going cross country until I found the portage trail. On my way back east later in the day, I walked the entire portage that is now longer...maybe 900 m. The east end has been re-routed further north along the granite ridge. Look for it on the west side of the creek before it narrows when going west. Easy to find going east up the creek, since the entrance is to the left of the rapids.

From west, watch for side channel on left, follow channel upstream 50 m to chute, mucky takeout on left. Easy portage. (measured at 837 metres)
