When paddling north to Wanda Lake, I found this portage on the north side of the creek marked with orange flagging on a dead tree. This was last burned from the 2018 fire and survived the 2021 fire, so the waist level jack pine are thick and covering up the portage trail making it impossible to follow. It has not seen a chainsaw for a few years, so if you can find the trail it is now blocked with numerous burnt deadfall. I did not have time to clear it with a handsaw, so I crawled and climbed my through this portage to the other side. I talked with the Park staff after the trip, so the good news is they were planning on a portage clearing trip through here late in August 2023. It might now be ok. Check with the WCPP office.
