I was going south when using this portage and found it challenging. The fact that I tackled it on the same day after clearing the monster 2100m portage to the north and getting caught out in a lightning intense T-storm also did not help. The RED16 2021 fire burned this portage but it was not very intense so left a forest of standing black dead trees with no underbrush. I lost the trail after starting out with it at the north end, but when heading south would every once and awhile find blue flagging that the Park uses (Photo below). I got about 2/3's of the way through and finally just bush crashed the rest of the way through the swamp that is east of the portage trail. I would not recommend doing that. Once I got to Craven Lake, I paddled over to the west and found the start of the portage trail marked with a large stone cairn. Hopefully in 2025, the Park will go in with a chainsaw crew and mark this better.
