This portage was cleared in 2026 before me by Park crews with chainsaws, so all the big trees were removed. But I found the small post-fire jack pine saplings growing back thick covering up the trail. I took the time and brushed back as much as I could with a hand saw, so the trail is easier to follow. Should be good for a few years until the trees get bigger. The west entrance is marked with a rock cairn and the east end is marked with a tree blaze. This is still a challenging portage with a few up and downs along the granite ridges.
