The portage is on river right (left side when paddling up river) and was obvious and relatively easy compared to many of the others up the Haggart River from Carroll Lake. If you don't like this one you'd better find another way because they get much trickier upstream!

The Carroll Lake end of this portage was covered by blowdown and 5 ft jack pines. I did not feel safe trying to make my way through it with gear and wasn't able to work my way around it. I would suggest using a different route to exit Carroll.

It was easy to find and navigate, some blow down/over growth but nothing major. With the unusually low water level there wasn't much flow and the take-out going upstream was different then the previous comment, was able to get very close and avoid any steep inclines. Had to walk over boulders. The put-in at the end was a bit tricky because of the low water.

I was heading upstream and fixed it up in August of 2020. Removed deadfall and added flagging. The upstream take out/put-in is tricky with the current and no way to pull your canoe up. You need rope if you are on your own.
