*2024 Update*: Only a few trees down since the last time I passed through here. The worst section is still the swamp/moose bog at the east end. The undergrowth is growing back thick making it hard to see the trail. 2022: This portage was burned again in 2021. The east side is marked with a cairn and starts in a low lying moose bog. The rest of the portage is up and down on granite ridges and marked with rock cairns to guide the way. I cleaned it up the best I could with a handsaw, but expect more of the smaller burned jack pines that grew up from the 2016 fire to fall over.

A confusing jumble of sticks and stones back when we did this portage! The burn makes navigation tricky in spots.
