This portage (and whole area) burned again in 2021, so it wiped out the new growth from the 2016 fire. But the rock cairns marking the way are still there and easy to follow, so just look for them. I added some more and re-built others. In the lower spots between ridges the undergrowth is growing back thick, so I knocked back that back with a handsaw. Should be easier to follow now. I almost knocked over a massive hornet nest at the east entrance hanging from a small jack pine. It was vibrating when I back away. Those things are more dangerous than black bears in WCPP. Hopefully it is gone when other paddlers come through.

Portage is well marked with rock cairns. The entry from the east is slightly difficult to see, but is accurately shown relative to the island in paddle planner.
