I last travelled this portage back in 2020 and it was a beautiful mature boreal forest. Very nice walk. Since then, the 2021 forest fire ripped through here and burned everything. It was cleared for me, so I was able to do a one-carry portage with no stopping. Follow the cut logs and odd flagging tape. I only spent time at both entrances making them more visible. The Hansen side now has a rock cairn along the shoreline. It was a dry year for me, so this cairn might get submerged during wetter years making it harder to spot. The green post-fire regrowth is starting to come back thick, so this might be a problem in the future if this is not used more.

Portage is very clearly marked and easily navigable with TONS of blueberries at the end of July!
