This portage was re-burned in 2021 so all the small jack pine growing back from the 2016 fire are now burned sticks standing up waiting to be knocked over in the next wind storm. But the roots are now rotted out so easy to push over. That is what I did on this portage the whole way along. I did not cut a single tree. Either I picked it up and tossed it, or pushed it over out of the way. Just follow the rock cairns that line the way on the bare rock outcrops, or look for the pushed over trees.

This portage is now marked correctly on this site, as I write this 2/4/2020. The portage goes through a very burned up area, but is now well marked and easy enough. We took the portage again in 2019. We had some fun building and rebuilding cairns to make it easier for the next group, which will be us someday.

Portage goes over a burned out hill. You will find this portage about 150 yards east of the location listed on this app. Portage out of Wrist is marked with rock cairns and tracking tape. Tough portage but well cleared out.

A very scenic portage over mostly bare rock and through recent burns. Well marked with rock cairns, could be slippery when wet.
