*2024 Update*: Still a mess but passable. The large trees that had come down years ago, and that I walked under in 2022, were now down at the south end, so I had to cut them out of the way (picture below). The Wrist side also had trees down, but are now cleared. Not sure why, but my impression is that this portage is not used much at all? 2022: This portage was burned in 2021 and had many trees down due to the fire. I took some time in June 2022 and cleaned this portage up the best I could with a axe and handsaw. It is now passable but will require work over the years as more standing dead falls down. The portage follows along a steep granite ridge on the east side of the creek.
