We visited this portage to see what it was like and it was quite the mistake. Despite two new boardwalks and no downed trees it is the biting insect capital of the north woods. The trail is badly overgrown and hard to follow if you're carrying a canoe. It is mostly level with one climb halfway and a descent down to Lamb Lake. Watch out for the many rocky sections that are hard to see under the brush. We suspect that it sees maybe one group per month, since there's really no reason to go to Lamb and Ramshead. Both landings are overgrown and hard to spot. The east one on Nina Moose is in a shallow bay choked with weeds on the south shore of the lake. Look for the large boulders here. It's easy enough to unload. The west landing on Lamb is very rocky and looks trickier. Lamb seems like a nice lake and it's a shame that there's no campsite there.
