In high water I used the path closest to the stream and think it was a good choice.

Our guidance was to take portage entrances closest to the stream. We hit the fork and stayed closer to the stream. Landing was good and not much farther so I’d say that was the better option. It was pretty close to the stream though so in higher water maybe the other option would be better.

One rocky entrance on the north side. As you go south there is a fork in the portage that leads to different put ins on Little Caribou. We stayed right at the fork which I think put us farther south on Little Caribou, and it was fine. Good fishing on the south shore of Caribou near the portage.
