From the Echo Trail the path actually traces the western bank of the river. It's a bit overgrown compared to most maintained portages and there are a lot of slippery, knobby and irregular shaped boulders along the way. But, it's still a reasonably decent trail. There is an idyllic waterfall canopied by some mature cedars & pines at about the midpoint.

some spots along this portage require attention if the trail is wet. there are large boulders you must cross that are slanted just enough to make it tricky.
