Wet and slippery after rain, beginning has poison ivy if you try to avoid standing water, has rock face to climb. Challenging portage

A fairly demanding portage. Very swampy and mucky throughout. With the water levels being so high the beginning of the Sturgeon Lake side was was completely submerged and very hard to spot. Pretty much a knee deep swamp to get to the rest of the trail. Also mainly uphill going toward Halliday! Overall... Mucky and buggy!

portage begins in horrible slimy corduroy. then climbs out of miserable swamp into ledge country with hard to climb 4' cliff in the trail. we estimated the portage at more like 200 rods. bad misery. we named it the man killer. avoid!
