Easy portage with some great sand on the south side. Easy to find since it is so well used. Hope for a favorable wind on Basswood.

Easiest portage in all of Quetico. There is a beaver dam that has been constructed mid-way along this portage that was not present in 2009. If this is enlarged it may flood the portage and make it sloppy, but it was a piece of cake in 2011.

We call this, "The Sand Portage." The south end is a nice beach and is seen from miles away. It is very well maintained and heavily used. The north end is a smaller beach into Burke. It is a nice warm up for heading into Quetico. Beware of Basswood wind...
