Be smart to start your portage by dragging your canoe and walking on the bog/reeds/brush on the right side of the mud slue. From there the real portage is still pretty rough with low trees and tight turns.

This one seemed more like 40 rods, quite a few downed trees and tight turns with the canoe. Have to slog through about 40 yards of mud before reaching dry land.
