Paddling the Voyageur Challenge route and stopped by here day 1. This portage is really a marvel of engineering with the rails going up over the hill for motor boats. It's a little confusing for the canoeists. There is a sign which gives a vague direction of travel. Take the trail across the yard. The Loon Lake side is also rough for the canoeists. There's a dock for the motorboats but waist-deep mud for the rest of us!
