In winter, this is a smooth portage with little elevation change. A winter route, kept open by dog teams, exits Manoomin Lake via the creek just south of the campsite peninsula across from this portage. This route, which passes over the creek, some marsh, and a birch stand, is lovely and also mostly flat. The lake itself as well as the routes in and out are very pleasant. The lake may well see more travelers on hard water than wet water!
