From the parking lot the portage starts out very straight and very level through a mostly mushy grassy section with an ever-increasing cavalcade of bothersome twigs encroaching on either side; and there may be some water to contend with. After passing through this, a slight climb up into a predominantly black spruce forest where the trail initially provides some minor undulation but remains easily traversed. Nothing real severe but eventually some troubling areas of rocks & roots are encountered and there is a decent short climb at about the mid-point before the barely noticeable long descent down to the lake. (Note: this gradient will, however, likely be noticeable on your return trip back to the parking lot.) Nice roomy landing at the lake.

Portage trail is in good shape. Boggy at the EP end and more hilly toward the Bog Lake end. Some really interesting boulders along the way. It seemed steeper going from Bog Lake back to the EP. Decent amount of wolf scat on trail. 2/5 difficulty.
