BWCA Campsite 1193 on Ima

This campsite sits at the top of a steeply sloping rock about 15 feet above the water, with an unobstructed and amazing view of the entire lake. The view is definitely the strength of the site, but the campsite is very open to the elements and there is no shade in the main camp area. The tent pads are lumpy, rocky, and uneven. I am calling it zero good tent pads and three maximum tent pads. A couple of the possible tent spots are close to being good, but not quite good enough for me to count them that way. The main tent area is a narrow grassy strip behind the kitchen, maybe 50 feet long and about 10 feet deep, but it is directly in the sun and may be difficult for staking because it sits on top of a large rock. If I wanted shade, I would take the trail down toward the point, where a few jack pines and red pines provide a little relief. There are several landing options along the shoreline, with smooth, gently sloping rock where I could parallel park the canoe and step out. This is a great-view site, but the exposure, lack of shade, and poor tent pads hold it back.

All open, sloped to the lake, big flat rock, no protection or trees. Pads are bumpy/rocky but it was actually not bad.
