This campsite is basically a wide open grassy part of the island with not a whole lot of shade. The landing is very easy, with a long flat rock where I could parallel park, step out, and pull up the canoe without much trouble. The kitchen looks across the lake toward some picturesque cliffs, so the view is nice.
Even though the campsite is a large grassy area, there are enough rocks poking through that tent placement is more limited than expected. I found two good tent pads and five maximum tent pads. The main grassy area is quite large, roughly 100 feet across and about 50 feet deep, but there is also a big circle of brush near the kitchen that takes up space. The trees around the site include birch, spruce, and cedar behind the campsite.
If I were hammock camping, there is an area of trees behind the site where the ground is uneven but the trees look like they are spaced well for one or two hammocks. Overall, this is a large, open, practical campsite with a good landing and view, but limited shade.

We spent two nights here, as every other campsite we checked was full.
Nice large landing, large site with plenty of tent pads, lots of downed trees for firewood, latrine is an easy walk in the woods, even a tree available for a bear hang.
The biggest failing is the rockiness of the tent pads. It was quite uncomfortable. We will be avoiding this site in the future.

Nice campsite that is a bit smaller than the northern campsite on this island. Many camp spots in and out of the woods. Water is shallow in front and makes a great place to relax on a hot summer day. We had 8 folks and 5 tents and had plenty of room.

Nice southern exposure. Nothing level, no tarp options.

Nice large site. Sheltered from the wind when it's blowing hard out on the lake.
