I found the fire grate placement a little unexpected here too, but on this site it works well. The landing was a little tricky in the wind because there are some sharp rocks to avoid, especially if waves are pushing the canoe around. Near the water there is an open rocky area among red pines on a small rock knoll, and that is where I expected the fire grate to be. Instead, you keep climbing, and the fire grate is in an open area at the top of the hill. It is a really pretty setting, with a big white pine, some flowering trees, and large rocks around the fire grate. The lake view is somewhat screened by red pines and other trees, but it is still very nice. You should get some breeze up there while still having enough tree cover to block much of the wind.
I found three good tent pads and four maximum tent pads, all fairly close together. The hardest part of this site is probably the climb from the landing up to the main campsite.
