Beautiful site, but the latrine lid was missing and the latrine itself was almost full.

West-facing site well above Knife Lake, but very near the portage to Vera Lake.
Landing was a slab of rock, which required pulling the canoe well up on-shore to tie-in for the night.
Good climb on loose gravel and rock up to kitchen. Very, very windy on this night, which makes things cold on an already cool September evening.
Fortunately the tentsite behind the kitchen was sufficiently protected from the wind. A lot of rock just beneath the soil forced us to use big rocks to hold down the tent.
Latrine to the left only 20 yards from kitchen.
Not much in the way of firewood when we were there.

Easy landing with a climb up to the fire grate/ tent pads. Lots of red pine between the grate and lake. Few options for hammock campers.

The area from the kitchen to the water is filled with beautiful red pines. The view from the kitchen is great. There are good sitting rocks by the water. The landing is a gradually sloping rock that is really nice. The swimming area is decent - probably as good as a swimming area will get in this area of Knife Lake. The tent pad area behind the kitchen is very open without much shade. The tent pads are pretty good - a few rocks, but nothing to complain about. The area from the kitchen to the water is five stars while the tent pad area gets three stars.
