This is in a Primitive Management Area, so it is not an official campsite and there is no fire grate or latrine. It appears the old campsite may be gone, likely because of fire damage along the northern and eastern shores of the lake. I explored the eastern side of Kettle Lake and did not find much that resembled a campsite. The best option I found was a rock face in the southeast part of the lake, outside the worst of the burn area.
The landing was difficult, with brush along shore and loose rock. I was able to wedge the canoe into the brush and get out onto the rocks, but climbing up to the top of the rock face also required careful footing.
Once on top, there is a large, flat, moss- and lichen-covered rock where a tent could fit. I would call it one good tent pad and two maximum tent pads, though staking would likely not work because it is on rock. There were no signs of a fire ring or prior use at this exact spot, but it has an excellent west-facing view across the lake. There are cedars, red pines, and jack pines around, and it is probably the best spot on the eastern side of Kettle Lake to set up camp, even though it has plenty of limitations.
